Why modeling

I get asked all the time why I started modeling in the first place and I never quite know what to say, I wasn't even sure myself.  So, why did I?
I dont think there was a specific reason other than I was getting SO tall and I have never been good at sports.  The tall gene runs in my family with a dad that's 6'10" and an uncle who is 7'1" I was bound to be a tally myself at 5'10".  I always wanted to be an actress, but that business is incredibly hard to break into and I didn't know how to do it, but I did hear about some open calls going in Chicago for modeling agencies.  I was too nervous to tell my mom I wanted to model in fear that I would sound stuck up, even when she mentioned the idea to me.  I wasn't going to do anything about it until my neighbor called and said she got a new camera and was wondering if I could come over and pose a little for her to practice using it, so i agreed.  I stayed at her house for 3 hours messing around pretending I knew what I was doing and...the pictures didn't turn out too bad..but not very good either haha but I DID enjoy doing it and asked to do it again in few months.  After a second time doing the same thing I knew I wanted to model, so I gathered up open call information for the 3 best modeling agencies in Chicago, Ford, factor, and BMG.
I walked into my first audition, which was with Ford, with a bright yellow paper folder containing a few pictures from messing around with my neighbor.  I was shaking uncontrollably as I filled out a form about myself, I didn't even know my measurements so I couldn't fill out the "mandatory" section...long story short, I wasn't asked to come back a second time.  Next came Factor who DID ask me to come back and send more pictures, however as I read more about BMG and saw that they focus on a good relationship with their models, models must obtain a 3.0 in school...etc. and knew I needed to be with an agency with that kind of orientation and I never got around to going back to Factor.  After my audition with BMG, they called me back the following week, where I had a 2 hour meeting with a woman who is now my agent. The DAY after signing my contract I was assigned my first shoot... And thats how it all started!!!
